The Clooneavin racing stables is the exceptional home of Leanne Breen Racing.

Based near the town of Warrenpoint, Co. Down it lies in the heart of Northern Ireland’s humble horse racing scene.

It is 25 miles from Downpatrick Racecourse and 20 miles from Dundalk Racecourse. She is perfectly positioned to access to all of Ireland’s racecourses. This means Leanne and her team can make a tailor-made plan for each horse, setting the yard up for runners all around the country.

If you think that owning a racehorse is the sole preserve of the rich and famous, then think again. In the modern era, the thrill of racehorse ownership is realistically open to all, and Leanne Breen, with her open-door policy, is perfectly poised to help you realise your goal.

Leanne trains for several partnerships and syndicates, meaning that costs are spread between a number of people while the ownership experience remains undiluted. Whether you would like to be a sole owner or part of a syndicate, Leaane is well able to look after your needs.

In addition, she has gained a wide knowledge of international bloodstock sales over the years. Leanne attends all major Northern Hemisphere yearling auctions in search of the best and most affordable bloodstock for her cherished owners.

Ownership options

1 Sole Ownership As a sole owner at Leanne Breen Racing, you will be the only owner, which means you are responsible for the purchase price, training costs and racing fees. But of course, that also means you get to enjoy all of the owner’s share of any prizemoney your horse may win! At Clooneavin Racing Stables, we take great pride in giving our owners the very best of personal care and attention, which begins with help if needed in buying a horse at the sales or elsewhere. Once in training, Leanne is always available to discuss with you how your horse is progressing. As a sole owner you are also able to design and register your very own racing silks and have the fun of choosing a name for your horse if buying a yearling. You can visit the yard and watch your horse at exercise on the gallops. But the biggest thrill of all is that sense of exhilaration which comes with having a runner at the races.

2 Syndicates A great way to enjoy the fun of owning a horse while sharing the cost is through a racing syndicate, in which up to 20 people can be members. It has become an increasingly popular way for groups of friends to get involved. One key feature of our syndicates is that they are all underwritten by Leanne Breen Racing. Partners will never be asked to pay more than the sum which they have agreed to pay at the outset.

3 Business Corporate ownership Corporate ownership can be an influential profile-raising tool, with businesses able to give their name to their horse – a fantastic advertisement for the firm. Most companies find their ownership proves a boost to staff morale. And many entertain clients by taking them for a day at the races when their horse is running to enjoy the fine corporate hospitality packages most racecourses now offer. It is an ideal way to promote the name of your company and build your brand through wider public exposure. And of course, the jockey can wear your corporate colours when riding. Horse Racing Ireland are dynamically looking at ways to liberalise the rules regarding racing colours to make this increasingly possible. Remember too that if the racehorse is owned by your company, all VAT on purchase and training fees is reclaimable.
